English: Gold snuffbox, possibly created by Pierre-François Delafons (French master 1732, died 1787), bears the Paris warden's mark for 1748–1749. Such boxes allowed miniatures to be replaced according to the desires of the owner. Étienne François, duc de Choiseul, commissioned Louis-Nicolas Van Blarenberghe to create the six miniatures (painted in 1767 on vellum) with views of Choiseul's country estate, the gardens and château of Chanteloup, which were inserted into the framework of the box.
