English: St. Patrick's Cathedral of today is a church built in the 1670s during the episcopate of Thomas Otway on the site of the medieval cathedral which was reported in 1615 to be in the state of a ruin. There are few remainings from medieval times which include the Dean's Door, a blocked 13th-century door. Major works were done in the 19th-century, in particular by the dean James Collins (in office 1844–1871), and in 1962.
