English: Statue of Queen Victoria in Guildhall Square, Portsmouth. The engraving on the stone on the upper part of the plinth says: "Victoria Regina et Imperatrix (Queen and Empress) 1837 - 1901." The engraving on the lower part of the plinth is: "These stones were laid 19 December 1972 to mark the building of the civic offices and the Guildhall Square". The inscription on the plate on the upper part of the plinth is: "Erected by Public Subscription during the Mayoralty of Sir William T. Dupree and unveiled on July 8th 1903, by Lady Dupree."
