The liturgical south wall of English Martyrs church, Wallasey, features five blind niches, each of which contains a statue of an archetypal English martyr. Most are post-Reformation, with the exception of St Thomas Becket (mistakenly, as usual, referred to as Thomas a Becket). There are copies of some of these statues at various other places round the church, most notably on the rear (west) wall.
