Giant (wooden) horses are still part of cavalcades in cities such as Dendermonde, Ath and Mechelen. These horses are listed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO.
Français : Bayard est un cheval légendaire à la robe baie, issu de nombreuses chansons de geste. Depuis le Moyen Âge, c'est une figure importante du folklore, particulièrement dans la région des Ardennes, en Belgique et en France, et dans le bassin du Dendre. Les textes, et surtout celui des quatre fils Aymon, lui attribuent des qualités magiques et une origine surnaturelle.

Nederlands: Het Ros Beiaard is een legendarisch paard dat in België vooral doorleeft in de folklore van Dendermonde en Dinant. Ommegangen met dit (houten) paard bestaan nog in Dendermonde, Aat en Mechelen. Alle Rossen Beiaard zijn geplaatst op de Lijst van Meesterwerken van het Orale en Immateriële Erfgoed van de Mensheid van UNESCO. De verhalen over het Ros Beiaard gaan terug op de chansons de geste. In hun bekendste vorm spelen de Vier Heemskinderen een belangrijke rol.
