English: Suburbs in India usually refer to the urban settlements beyond the core city in a metropolitan area. They are usually separate municipalities or parts of a gram panchayat. In Mumbai however, "suburbs" usually refer to the urban settlements outside the South Mumbai (SoBo) region, which may include the area governed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
