Tính tẩu (or Tinh tẩu) is the string instrument commonly used in several ethnic groups in Vietnam such as the Thai, Tay, etc. It is also found in several parts of China, Laos, and Thailand.
In Thai, the word "đàn" means the upright state of tẩu, and the translation into Vietnamese, the word "tẩu" means đàn bầu (monochord). To avoid confusion with the kinds of plain đàn bầu, tẩu is often called đàn, but to translate into "đàn đàn (bầu)" is wrong. So just understands the calling off of the đàn is the tẩu.
