Category:Théâtre Sarah-Bernhardt
Théâtre de la Ville operated as Théâtre Sarah-Bernhardt from 1899 to 1968. Sarah Bernhardt produced there from 1899 until her death in 1923, when her son assumed the administration of the theatre. The name was changed to Théâtre de la Cité during the Nazi occupation of France (1940–44) because of Bernhardt's Jewish ancestry. The name was restored in 1947.
