Category:The Guild

English: The Guild is a former artists' colony and hotel, now serving as a park, in the Scarborough area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Commencing in the 1930s, Rosa Breithaupt Hewetson and Herbert Spencer Clark turned their property into "The Guild of All Arts", adding a studio building and other workshops for artists throughout the site. The Clarks also began collecting architectural elements from demolished buildings in Toronto and erecting them in the gardens of the Guild. In 1965, a 100-room hotel was constructed on the site.

The inn's fortunes declined over the years, however, as surrounding areas of Scarborough grew more urban. The municipal government came to own the site, and the hotel and restaurant were closed in 2001, with only the park remaining open to the public. In 2008, the City of Toronto approved a plan by Centennial College to operate a hotel, restaurant, and conference centre on the site for use in the school's hospitality courses.
