Thirza 179-ton merchant brigantine (official number 51924), built 1865 Prince Edward Island (in the St Lawrence estuary, Canada). Registered at Faversham, Kent, owner by the Whitstable Shipping Co. Ltd. Requisitioned 30 August 1915 by the Admiralty for conversion and service as a Q-ship (submarine decoy ship), renamed 'Probus'. Operated under the names 'Thirza', 'Elixir', 'Q30' and 'Ready'. Returned to commercial service 11 November 1918 and reverted to original name of Thirza.
