English: Torre da Medronheira (The tower of Granadilla Tree) is a lookout tower located in Ferreiras, Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal. The surrounding neighbourhood also takes its name from the tower. The tower was built in the mid 16 century in the reign of John III of Portugal and its main function was to be used to monitor the coast and warn the local populations of Barbary pirates who sailed the local waters to pillage and kidnapped local people often selling them into slavery.
