Français : Dressée à flanc de coteau et dominant les Plaines d’Abraham dans la Ville de Québec, la tour Martello n° 1 est une massive construction cylindrique en pierre, de deux étages, au profil sobre et trapu. Ses murs sont en moellons de maçonnerie et s’inclinent légèrement vers l’intérieur à mesure que la tour gagne en hauteur. Des fenêtres ou embrasures munies de volets et une entrée de porte cintrée percent le mur de l’étage. Ces ouvertures, auxquelles on accède par un escalier extérieur, débouchent à l’intérieur de la tour. Près du haut du mur, la tour présente un parapet en pierre et une terrasse circulaire.

English: Standing on a hill overlooking the Plains of Abraham in the City of Québec, Martello Tower No. 1 is a massively built, two-storey plain squat cylindrical tower of solid stone construction. The Tower’s walls are built of rubble masonry and its exterior wall inclines slightly inwards as it rises. Shuttered windows or embrasures, and an arched doorway pierce the wall on the second level. These open to the interior and are accessed by an exterior stairway. Near the top of the wall the structure is encircled by a stone parapet and encircling terrace.
