English: Turku City Hall, located in Turku, Finland, was completed in 1812. It is designed by italian-born architect Charles (Carlo Francesco) Bassi (1772-1840) in Neoclassical style. It was originally a hotel-restaurant Seurahuone with the restaurant ja ballrooms in this main building. It survived the Great Fire of Turku in 1827. The hotel- and restaurant business ended in 1878 and the city of Turku bought the property and developed it as an administrative building. Significant renovations were made in 1883-1885, even in the outward appearance. The facades were decorated in neo-renaissance style. The renovation was designed by a finnish architect Frans A. Sjöström (1840-1885). Even the interior colouring was of the same style. The next renovations were made in 1911 and 1964-1965. The last renovation was in 1997-1999, and the Sjöström's interior colouring was restored (but not quite so plentifully). -The Turku City Council has held it's meetings in the building since 1885, and since 1965 in the former grand ballroom of the Seurahuone.
