English: Veena (also spelled 'vina', Sanskrit: वीणा (vīṇā), ) is the name of plucked stringed instruments belonging to various families, with several variations. The most used form is the Saraswati veena, a member of the lute family, played in the South-Indian Carnatic classical music. One who plays the veena is referred to as a vainika.
