English: In industrial poultry, vitamins should be provided in accurate quantities by the premix, which has been incorporated to the concentrate. However, vitamin deficiencies are sometimes observed, evidenced by nervous signs, similar to those of experimental deficiencies (especially vitamin B2 and B1), and responding to vitamin therapy. Only a percentage of the flock is involved (0,5 to 10 percent). Causes could be :
- subliminal levels of expensive vitamins, no more sufficient for always more rapidly growing chicks (responsibility of the premixer).
- bad mixing of the involved vitamins in the premix (responsibility of the premixer).
- bad mixing of the premix in the commercial diet (responsibility of the food manufacturer).
- deterioration of vitamins in the manufacturing process (unsuitable heat, etc.) (responsibility of the food manufacturer).
- the smaller food particles (with higher content in vitamins) are not ingested by the chicks, because of inadequate feeding equipment or practices (responsibility of the poultryman).
