English: William Adams was an English navigator who drifted to Japan in 1600 with Jan Joosten van Lodensteijn. Ieyasu wanted Adams and Joosten to serve for him. By a lot of distinguished services, Ieyasu gave the Japanese name, Miura Anjin (三浦 按針), and the territory, and admitted the position as Samurai to Adams.
