The William Galloway Company was formed in 1906 in Waterloo, Io. as a farm implement manufacturer that became an engine builder in 1908 (by buying the Casscaden Manufacturing Co., and a automobile manufacturer in 1908-1910 (Galloway's Auto Transport Highwheeler), 1910 (Galloway automobile aka Maytag), and 1915 (Arabian cyclecar). in 1912, Galloway acquired the Dart Manufacturing Company, builder of Dart trucks.
