Synonymy with Agaricus essettei

edit

According to Fungorum A. essettei is a synonym of A. sylvicola and this is backed up by Funga Nordica, which calls A. essettei "possibly only a large-spored variant". If they are distinguished, A. essettei has smaller spores (6-8×4-5 µm instead of 5-6×3-4 µm) and is bigger (8-12 cm instead of 5-8 cm) amongst other differences.[1]

The name A. abruptibulbus (which is an American species) has wrongly been used in Europe as a synonym of A. essettei. Strobilomyces (talk) 14:17, 5 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
