My friend I see that in the English article contains en:Category:History of Azerbaijan that matches the Category:History of Azerbaijan. That's why I do the same and in commons. If you do not agree with it, maybe you should discuss this in the English wiki? I do not think that you have so just get out there to remove the category, just here you do not have apponent.--Ray Garraty (talk) 15:27, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

It was most probably put by mistake since text states he lead revolt from Iranian Azerbaijan (historic region today consisted of West Azerbaijan province, East Azerbaijan province and Ardabil province (his fort was located there), and his revolt had spread toward south-west. Considering location, in this case I avoided any country, just mentioned his origin and Abbasid Caliphate as place. --Orijentolog (talk) 15:35, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
This "error" is repeated in many language sections (!). Babak considered a national hero in the Republic of Azerbaijan.I return to the category, please do not roll back me, you can call to discuss administrator. --Ray Garraty (talk) 15:41, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
I just checked en:wiki and I also disagree with category "People from Ardabil province", since such province is actually modern concept. If he was born in Ardabil then category "People from Ardabil" would fit good (that city existed in his period) like "People from Ganja" in Nezami case. Fact that Babak is considered a national hero in the Republic of Azerbaijan isn't relevant for categorization at all, since we all know that Azerbaijan claims ancient peoples (even Sumerian) as "Azeris". If you have problem with edit, you're free to complain and I'll respond. --Orijentolog (talk) 15:46, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just one fine example of "Azerbaijani national heros": Wikipedia in Azeri language keeps Queen Tomyris (leader of nomadic Iranian tribes from Central Asia) as first in infobox of "famous Azeris". Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia considers Alexander as their "national hero" also. So Wikimedia should follow them? I suggest you to read Babak article once again and check does links of "Azerbaijan" lead - Iranian Azerbaijan or Republic of Azerbaijan. --Orijentolog (talk) 16:04, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
