editThe category and its sub-categories include more than 1,500 files of coins from Gallica. I organized some of them in sub-categories by ruler (both kings of Sidon and foreign rulers), but it is possible to further categorize them under periods: Persian (already exists), Hellenistic and Roman. This is true not only for the sub-categories but mainly for the files in the category that aren't in a sub-category of a ruler (since Gallica site didn't indicate the ruler of the coin's period):
- I went through the coins that are label "Sicle" (and its derivatives), and they are all Achaemenid; so are the "Divisionnaire"s, that although they are very damaged, from what I can see they are all Achaemenid;
- the bronze coins that are nor labeled by ruler are a bit more difficult, I recognize most of them as Hellenistic but in some cases it may be hard to distinguish between Hellenistic and Roman coins (I went through all of these bronze coins and found only two Achaemenid coins: 1a+b and 2a+b).
- The drachms (and its derivatives) (be careful not to include those who are "Arados (Arwad) Ou Babylone, Phénicie Ou Babylonie" – don't include results with the word "ou". I checked and all of the results without this word are from Phoenician Arados), including the stag-and-palm-tree type and the bee type, are all Hellenistic.
- Some of the coins are labeled "types d'Alexandre III le Grand", others "Alexandre III le Grand" – all of them are Hellenistic. I'm not sure if the first label indicates the time of Alexander the great or a type that was common in his time and some time after him. Either way, it is possible to create a category for his Aradian coins.
