- This section contains explanation for all the terms related to SVG and vector graphics, and anything related to translating vector graphics into Indian languages from English.
- What and Why?
- SVG Translation Campaign 2019 in India is a 38-day long campaign to translate the SVG files into Indian languages for use of regional language Wikipedias. After Wikigraphists Bootcamp in September 2018, we had a good number of Wikimedians from India and neighbouring countries, who were trained on using Inkscape and other tools, to create vector illustrations (SVG is a file format for vector graphics, like JPG for raster graphics). This campaign is a follow-up that project, and also with a goal to promote the idea of vector graphics among the larger Indian community. Often, we see English-labelled SVG files being used on Indian Wikipedias, this campaign also helps us to have localised SVG files with labels in regional languages to be used on Wikipedias. This campaign is being supported by CIS-A2K.

- How?
- Please go through the resources page to learn about translating an SVG file. The page has various resources to learn about vector illustrations, SVGs, Inkscape. It also contains tutorials of how to translate a file using Inkscape, and upload it back to Commons.
- When?
- The campaign starts on 21 February 2019, marking International Mother Language Day, and will continue through 31 March 2019. The overall timelines is as follows:
- Initial discussion among coordinators: 1–15 January 2019
- Setting up pages on-Wiki: by 15 January 2019
- Community notification: 16 January 2019
- Request to CIS-A2K and for Central Notice: by 23 January 2019
- Community call: by 20 February 2019
- Campaign starts: 21 February 2019 (International Mother Language Day)
- Last date for communities to enter the campaign: 23 March 2019
- Campaign ends: 31 March 2019
- Results announcement: 25 April 2019
- Report published: 15 May 2019

- The file must be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons between 21 February 2019 00:01 hrs and 31 March 2019 23:59 pm.
- The file must be properly categorised with relevant categories of Wikimedia Commons.
- The file must be marked as done with signature as mentioned on the images list.
- Optional
- Consider adding the translated file to respective Wikipedia article of your language.
- Add the file to other versions field of the original file.
- Following these steps will help you to participate in the campaign with ease.

- Download and install Inkscape (from General resources section)
- Download and install required fonts (from Fonts section)
- Go to the images list of the language that want to translate to.
- Select an image from the list, and mark it with the following code: {{working}} ~~~~
(Please note that if the status appears "working" for more than seven days (by signature), it'll be removed, and allow other users to work on it.)

- Download and translate the file
- Upload the file to Wikimedia Commons with the language code at the end of the orginal file name (change the lang code from 'en' to your language code if language code exist already) and tag it with required categories
- Create "Other versions" template and add it files as needed (optional, only if the template doesn't exist previously)
- Mark the file as done in the images list: {{done}} ~~~~
