How they work

Wiki Loves Earth Switzerland 2017

Swiss Photo contest supported by Wikimedia CH

Wiki-expeditions have been created in East Europe and in general they takes two or three weeks.

In Switzerland they are one/two-day visits, so the formula has been adapted.

A good suggestion is to organize it in detail and to check if the monuments are open or if there is a phone or an address to contact to have access. It can save a lot of time.

  • First point: Please select any day but not Sunday if you plan to include some kind of monuments like churches or monasteries, on Sundays they are used for religious ceremonies. The picture of internal cannot be taken. In addition the Sunday is plenty of people and also a simple picture of a square may be difficult.
  • Second point: If you select a town, please contact any monument's owner previously in order to check if these are private. It may require a lot of time to receive the access.
  • Third point: the best option would be to visit a huge area, a good solution is to move by car. In countryside the distances may be bigger in comparison to the bigger towns.
  • Fourth point: people doesn't consider that a battery of a small camera has a lifetime of three/four hours. Please bring the power cable because in the middle of the day the camera be completely out.
