Above image was deleted Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:GP_Imola2005_SchumiAlonso.jpg as claimed copyvio. The source website does indeed state copyright with permission to use any of the images as you wish as long as you link to this website. However permission to use the image under a Creative Commons licence was granted by the author and emailed by him to be kept in the OTRS system. The following text was included on the image description page "The permission for use of this work has been archived in the Wikimedia OTRS system. Please contact a person with an account on the system to confirm the permission. Link to permission (OTRS account required)." The link went to https://secure.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom&TicketID=510451 - could the image therefore please be restored. Alexj2002 18:34, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Above was deleted for being a "derivative work (copyvio)". I feel that doesn't apply. The image is the tail of an aircraft and that is not the focus of the picture. Clouds occupy over 50% of the image. --Cat out 21:59, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Re-delete (since it's already been undeleted). In this case, I'd say it depends how the image is being used. If it's being used to show what the rear end of an airplane looks like, it's not a derivative work of Pikachu. If it's being used to show the clouds, it's not a derivative work of Pikachu. If it's being used to show what Pikachu looks like, it's a derivative work of Pikachu and can't be used. Somehow I strongly doubt the first two uses were ever the case. —Angr 19:07, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
It is not a derivative work of Pikachu. It's being used to show the tail of the plane. The uploader takes a lot of photographs of planes. Cary "Bastiq▼e" Bass demandez 19:21, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
This is complicated and confusing. The image should not be used to illustrate Pikachu, but may not be useful otherwise. I doubt it would be used to illustrate "Aircraft parts". If someone were to do an article on Airline decoration, then it would be entirely appropriate. In that respect, it would not violate the copyright. Re-delete. This is a bit silly. We have a trillion photos of planes. If you want a photo to demonstrate the tail of a plane, just crop one of them. Or you could almost use Image:Planes after attacking Kaga.jpg straight away. It's not a very good rationale for keeping this photo. pfctdayelise (说什么?) 04:44, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Image:Logo tu-dresden.jpgEdit

This image has been deleted due to supposed copyright violation. This is wrong due to german universities are "Körperschaften öffentlichen Rechts" (corporations governed by public law) and their logos are declared as public domain by §5 of the german law of copyrights and intellectual property rights. The image was tagged with the template PD-Coa-Germany so I do not know why the image was deleted in a cloak-and-dagger operation. Geo-Loge 09:14, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Better read the law! There is no restriction to coat of arms. Due to the university's state as an Körperschaft (corporation governed by public law) the logo [and it's defining description in an amtlichen Erlass (official edict)] are an amtliches Werk (official work) which is in the public domain according to §5 UrhG in Germany. However the logo does not even reach threshold of originality. Geo-Loge 11:32, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Image:National Emblem of the People's Republic of China.gifEdit

Even though Image:China guohui.png is PNG, it is not officially correct. This is why I uploaded Image:National Emblem of the People's Republic of China.gif from Chinese Macanese governmental web site. I would like to ask if GIF can be converted to PNG.--Jusjih 14:04, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
