Reason Smith Island has a long history going back to early colonial times. However, the island is very flat and exists only a few inches above the waterline of the Chesapeake Bay. If the water of the bay continues to rise with climate change, the community may cease to exist. -- GRDN711 (talk)

I uploaded 02a as a multi-image panorama, then made a 7:1 ratio crop to form 02b specifically to meet the banner requirements of Wikivoyage. It was subsequently used in the WikiV topic of “Smith Island”. While both 02a and 02b meet the scope requirements, my thinking is that 02b is a derivative and use case for the nominated 02a panorama from which it came. --GRDN711 (talk) 17:08, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My reasoning on which image is more useful for use in online articles is that the only difference between the original and the Wikivoyage banner is more water and sky. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:42, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Info I appreciate your perspective for image utilization but let me offer you a another one. The 7:1 crop ratio of 02b looks good in Wikivoyage but being so long and narrow, it is rather extreme and atypical.
Given that someone was looking for a panorama image of Ewell Harbor, 02b is available and linked to 02a, but I doubt that they would opt for something cropped that tight. I am not stuck on this, but my original thinking in nominating 02a, was that the extra water and sky would allow more flexibility in cropping to a shorter 5:1 or 6:1 ratio to fit the space they have, encouraging more utilization on different online platforms. --GRDN711 (talk) 04:44, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
