Nominated by:
Famberhorst (talk) on 2019-07-11 17:36 (UTC)
Scope:
Diakonievene Overgrown root ball of a fallen birch (Betula).
  •   Comment - I'm not sure this is a useful scope, though of course the image is beautiful and has already garnered QI and FP designations. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:36, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Answer: I think this photo shows a long natural process. The root ball of the birch used to be anchored in the ground with the birch proudly on top. The birch with the roots has been dead for a long time. But are still of great use. The root ball and the birch are covered with different mosses and lichens. Among them live numerous forms of life that in the long run fully compost the birch and the roots. A fascinating process.--Famberhorst (talk) 16:05, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
  •   Comment - I also recommend not to nominate this picture for this scope. When I look at the other images in the category, this photo - as beautiful as it is - does not really represent the scope.--Chianti (talk) 16:44, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
