Regarding geolocation, it wasn’t clear in the upload form that the camera‘s coördinates were wanted, rather than the subject’s; one often shoots large things from a distance … And there was a bug in the conversion process somewhere that caused a failure when North (or, I expect, East) figures were preceded by a plus sign. |

I returned home to find that I had luckily taken a LOT more sites in Canada than I thought because I had fortunately photographed nearly all of the buildings at a National Historic Site. |

In comparison the UK system is difficult and as there are different bodies i.e. English Heritage, Cadw and Scottish Heritage and they do not have overall ID numbers for their monuments there can be problems. I would suggest that entries should be split for these respective countries and it may then be easier to develope the competition and increase local involvement. There is a problem with with the UK that Scheduled monuments and Grade 2 listed building were not included in the competition, so that enteries were very restricted. |

Така акція принесе в декілька разів більше данних, ніж сам конкурс. Створити додаткові списки з поміткою "дані користувача, неперевірено". А вже в ході конкурсу учасники зможуть власноруч перевірити, чи дані вірні. Іншими словами, потрібно "наведення на ціль" для учасників. Доречі, отримані таким чином дані можна направити до відповідальних органів влади, щоб якщо вони не можуть самі надати корректні, чи хоч якісь списки, то хоча-б перевірили надані. |

Finde ich schade und das fördert eher den Gedanken lieber beim nächsten Mal das soundsovielte Bild von Schloss X oder Museum Y bei Sonnenaufgang einzureichen als ein gutes Foto von dem unspektakulären 60er-Jahre-Bau oder des Lagerhauses aus dem 19. Jhd., die mit der selben Berechtigung ein wichtiges Dokument der Zeitgeschichte sind.
Könnte gelöst werden durch andere Kriterien bei der Auswahl der Gewinner oder durch unterschiedliche Wettbewerbskategorien.

Von einem Objekt, wo schon hunderte Bilder existieren, brauchen wir da wirklich noch dutzende ähnliche Aufnahmen? Wie kommen die Wikipedianer dazu, aus so vielen ähnlichen Bildern auswählen zu müssen, warum verbleiben diese nicht, bis auf das eine beste auf der Festplatte des Benutzers?
Ich könnte mir Modifikationen der Wettbewerbsregeln vorstellen, die Bilder noch unbebildeter Objekte viel stärker gewichten als bereits bebilderte, oder vielleicht noch viel mehr als schon oftmals bebilderte. Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass die Bilder eines Benutzers in ihrer Bewertung mit der durchschnittlichen Bewertung aller Bilder dieses Benutzers multipliziert werden, also die durchschnittliche Qualität hoch sein muss, damit ein Bild in die Endauswahl kommen kann. Wer ein tolles Bild hat, soll halt nur dieses hochladen, das erhöht seine Chancen im Wettbewerb. Ich wünsche mir, dass Beschreibung und Kategorisierung in die Bewertung mit eingehen. Ich könnte mir auch eine Limitierung der Bilder vorstellen, die pro user für den Wettbewerb hochgeladen werden dürfen (~100 dürften ausreichen). |

Und für "Kunstwerke im öffentlichen Raum" sind die Commons nach der skandalösen Löschung der Oldenbourg-Skulptur in Köln wegen der US-Rechtslage auch nicht mehr wirklich geeignet. |

Next ting which I think it must be improved, WLM must make some tutorial, introduction in which WLM will explain to the photo-donators what is photo of a cultural heritage and what is a simple snapshot; WLM should not lower the art standards! There were - at least in Serbia - too many photos which doesn't mean a thing . That needs to be explained in the 2014. Briefly, it would be better if there were some additional goals or challenges—not necessarily for prizes, but to receive ‘honourable mention’ for achievements related to subject matter, documentary value, architectural features or periods, geographical range, and other qualities that wouldn’t necessarily contribute to the photos’ artistic merit for the purposes of the main event.
I also wish there had been a little more transparency to the evaluation process: even just a ‘short-list‘ gallery, or a page of potential QIs, would have given some encouragement to a much larger number of contributors than those who had the top ten entries.
Regarding Q.17, my participation in WLM did lead to a bit of a binge of categorizing activity on Commons, where I had previously done little beyond uploading a few files.

In fact, I found the information only in the Israeli Wikimedia Facebook page.
At the least, I should have recieved a short update that the winning entries were announced, and that that my entries did not win.
It would be even nicer to get more feedback - how my entries ranked (even if I didn't win) and any specific comments by the judges.
Also, from what I checked so far, all of the Wikipedia pages of the relevant heritage sites were not updated to use any of the new photos (mine or others`). They keep displaying the same old photos in the Wikipedia page. Pity. |

It would be good though to have anouncements as early as possible. The summer is the main time people have available time to take pictures away from their home. With competition announced early and lists available it might persuade people to take pictures with commons in mind in a larger timeframe.

In my case, I took a photo a Hector Guimard edicule against a summer twilight sky on my mobile phone to capture the moment. So it doesn't have the same techincal excellence of a photo taken with a SLR or bridge, and an edicule is a thin structure. In retrospect I now realise that there would've little chance then for my photo to win the prize. I'm glad to have shared this photo on Wiki Commons, but I wouldn't enter the next Wiki Loves Monuments competition unless I had a more technically accomplished, detailed photo. |

Esperaba un comentario de un entendido en el tema de fotos dando su parecer sobre ellas, ello no sólo denota la seriedad del concurso, sino también nos ayudaría a mejorar la calidad de nuestras entregas, lo que a su vez, elevaría la calidad del material participativo y a quienes participamos nos haría realmente sentir que nuestros aportes fotográficos fueron vistos y evaluados objetivamente. Sinceramente, no haber visto eso, como que me ha dejado con poco incentivo para participar nuevamente, ya que anteriormente, tampoco vi las fotos ganadoras... Vale que consideren eso.

Ciertamente, desde el inicio supuse que esto iba a suceder, pero mi motivo no era solamente el premio, sino participar y aprender a utilizar Wikipedia, que fue, si, una buena expriencia.
Solamente me falta tiempo para seguir aportando, pero en algún momento pienso poder hacerlo.
Si hay otro concurso, espero poder incluir mi trabajo en ese nuevo concurso.

| es | Considero importante que se revise el criterio con el que los jurados calificaron las fotografías de este año en Wikiloves Colombia ya que otorgaron el primer y segundo lugar a la misma persona! quien además subió 12 fotografías y 6 de ellas resultaron incluidas dentro de las 10 mejores, las cuales eran de tan solo 3 monumentos. No cuestiono la calidad de las fotografías con lo que no estoy de acuerdo es con el hecho de que se pierda el espíritu de Wikiloves: dar a conocer el patrimonio y hacerlo desde distintas visiones. Por lo que no tiene sentido que se incluya dentro del limitado grupo de 10 mejores fotografías varias fotos tomadas del mismo lugar y por la misma persona. De otro lado, la organización de este año en Colombia no publico en ningún momento los premios que otorgarían. Motivos por los cuales resulta pertinente que los jurados cada año sean distintos y los criterios de evaluación y premiación sean públicos y claros. Gracias. |
| es | Me gustaría que para próximas competencias, dejen claro como será la mecánica de éstas, ya que este año, se dijo que las fotos subidas DURANTE el evento serían tomadas en cuenta para la rifa de una de las cámaras, la foto ganadora sería la que tuviera más likes. | fr | J'ai versé plusieurs photos avec UploadWizard et tout c'est bien passé. Par contre, celles que j'ai versées avec Commonist n'ont pas de bandeau WLM13. J'ai alors posé la question sur le centre d'aide mais personne ne m'a répondu et j'ai failli mettre manuellement ce bandeau afin de signaler que ces photos étaient destinées au concours, sans la faire. J'ai donc plusieurs photos de MH français qui n'ont pas de bandeau. Cela ne me dérange pas, je ne les ai pas versée pour ça : je n'attends pas un concours pour verser toutes les photos, j'en ai versé dans le mois précédent le concours et dans le mois suivant. Le versement de photo n'est pas pour gagner quoi que ce soit (bien sûr, si l'on me décerne des lauriers, je les prendrais), mais une continuité dans l'illustration de la Wiki. J'en verse encore, au fur-et-à-mesure que je fais du tri dans mon disque dur ou au fil de ce que visite te photographie, sans pour autant attendre le prochain concours.
Le WLM est une bonne façon de gagner de nouveaux contributeurs, mais la pérennité de leur participation n'est pas certaine. Enfin, c'est ce que je pense. |
| fr | Il y a trop de différences entre les photos versées, et surtout LES PHOTOS PRIMÉES, et les critères de qualité technique usuellement exigées par les "labels" de "Commons" (QI, VI, FP). C'est trop déroutant pour les usagers réguliers. La régle devrait prévoir que les photos respectent les "Image Guidelines" (couleur, composition, saturation, correction de perspective etc...). Si c'est un concours artistique, ça n'a rien à voir avec l'illustration documentaire d'articles de Wikipedia. Le "dosage" du palmarès parmi les participants parait artificiel et trop savamment réparti, et je ne suis pas sûr que l'objectif d'obtenir de nouveaux contributeurs reguliers soit ainsi atteint. D'où mes hésitations à participer à une prochaine édition. |

La retouche informatique des photos est semble-t-il devenue un mal nécessaire pour embellir le contenu, ce qui rend la victoire au concours moins ouverte à tous.
Le fait de téléverser une grande quantité de monuments différents devraient être beaucoup plus encouragée par le biais de prix spécifiques, car avant d'être un album de belles photos, Commons est avant tout un album de toutes les photos.
Réorienter le concours sur les plantes ou animaux serait certes intéressant d'un point de vue contenu, mais des photos de qualité exigent bien souvent un matériel bien plus onéreux que celui nécessaire à des photos de bâtiments, et nuirait à l'universalité du concours. |

Un moyen terme pourrait être l'exposition dans un lieu passant mais surtout pas culturel, où le public pourrait se dire : « Tiens, moi aussi je saurais faire des photos comme ça. » (Même si — techniquement — ce n'est pas forcément vrai.)

Sélectionné comme "Image du jour" (19 septembre 2013), grâce à une photo aérienne du Mont-Saint-Michel incroyablement difficile à réaliser (pour la petite histoire, il a fallu que j'aille deux fois sur place...), j'étais convaincu que ma photo serait AU MOINS dans les 10 lauréats, si ce n'est "dans les 3 premiers".
D'autant que certaines images "mises en valeur" dans les "images du jour" me laissaient dubitatif...
Quel intérêt de montrer "un vieux pan de mur à moitié écroulé", comme il en existe des centaines en France ?
Mon image : un sujet "éclairé en lumière naturelle" (l'une des règles de base de la photographie me semble t-il...), le plus beau (et spectaculaire) monument de France sans doute, un point de vue inédit...(sauf à utiliser des moyens lourds, comme un hélicoptère, façon Yann Arthus-Bertrand), une prise de vue à 150 m d'altitude malgré un vent de 15 km/h, une photo "grand angle" permettant se situer le Mont dans sa baie, avec les nuages et la mer pour renforcer le contraste Nature/construction humaine...il me semble que "tout y était".
Je ne parle même pas des autres photos que j'avais soumises (rassemblées sur ma page d'User), dont certaines assez inédites.
Je n'ai pas compris l'approche "esthétisante"(?) et "élitiste"(?) qui consiste à primer la photo d'un "morceau d'escalier" en béton (N°9), non éclairé, sous prétexte qu'il forme des lignes géométriques...
Idem pour les "escaliers en colimaçon" (N°7)...qu'on retrouve dans pas mal de sélections, qui semblent donc être une "figure imposée".
Je suis donc déçu pour moi, pour mes enfants qui ont participé à la prise de vue (ils chronomètrent la durée de vol -8 mn maxi-, afin d'éviter la "chute libre" + ils s'assurent que le drone "reste en place" pendant que je pilote à distance grâce à une liaison vidéo embarquée) et pour la "sélection française" qui a perdu, à mon avis, toute chance de figurer sur le "podium international" en renonçant à faire figurer l'un de ses (LE ?) plus beaux monuments, sous un angle (quasi)inédit.
Belle occasion perdue de valoriser le patrimoine DU pays des Monuments Historiques (avec l'Italie, l'Egypte, la Grèce et quelques uns...).
Bonne chance à l'Inde, à la Jordanie, à la Syrie (et oui, même eux...), qui, grâce à des photos "simples mais belles" de leurs plus beaux monuments, ont, à mon avis, toutes leurs chances.
J'ai bien peur que "la jolie photo" du Pont d'Avignon, malgré sa célébrité internationale due à une chanson pour enfants, n'ai que peu de probabilité de l'emporter.
Si seulement il s'agissait du "Palais des Papes" qu'on entraperçoit, l'un des autres chefs-d'oeuvres des Monuments historiques français...
Même la photo prise par drone primée (la seule et en dernière position...)de Versailles (auteur : ToucanWings) est loin d'être la meilleure que cet auteur à soumis. Je pense en particulier à l'une de ses photos avec "bassin" (d'Apollon) / jardins et château de Versailles réunis, "vue du ciel".
Une occasion manquée de mettre en lumière une "technique photographique" qui est en train de révolutionner la prise de vue. Demain, tous (ou presque) Yann Arthus-Bertrand !
Accessoirement, deux mois après que cela m'ait été notifié, (presque) un mois après le "verdict final", je n'ai toujours aucune nouvelle du tee-shirt qu'on était censé m'envoyer...
Je ne suis pas "à un tee-shirt près", mais bon, j'aime bien qu'on tienne ses engagements (ou qu'au moins, on me tienne au courant de délais).
Je ne crois pas être "mauvais perdant" et j'aurais "accepté" bien volontiers d'être devancé par des très belles photos de très beaux monuments historiques français, telles que j'en ai vu dans les participations.
J'ai juste la mauvaise impression d'avoir concouru pour le mauvais concours...
Avec l'expression de ma déception.

1. Même règles de composition du jury pour tous les pays participants
C’est-à-dire, un président et un vice-président extérieurs à Wikimédia faisant partie des professionnels de la photographie.
2. Publication de la composition du Jury avant le début du concours.
3. Comme dans tous les autres concours qui se respectent, impossibilité de concourir pour les administratifs, leurs proches ainsi que les personnes bénéficiant de facilités auprès des Wikimédias de chaque pays participants (prêt de matériels photographique, assistance dans les frais de participation, accès gratuit dans les musées et monuments et sites, ...).
4. Éviter de multiplier les prix à une seule personne et créer un prix spécial pour les nouveaux contributeurs méritants.

Grafikusként tevékenykedek, próbálok érvényesülni, pénzt keresni - ehhez nagyon fontos, hogy az interneten minél több helyen megtalálható legyek. AZ ingyenes dolgok nem csak a köz számára hasznosak, hanem az "adakozóknak" is, azoknak, akik az idejüket, munkájuk gyümölcsét felajánlják a közösségnek. Jó érzés volt a képeket feltölteni, több ingyenes dolgot is feltettem már az internetre, de nem csak önzetlenségből, hanem mert ez egy egyszerű módja annak, hogy az emberekkel kapcsolatba lépjek. SZerintem a Wikipédia ezt a tényt is felhasználhatná ahhoz, hogy a pályázatait még népszerűbbé tegye. Mondjuk egy kategória, ahová azok küldik be a képeiket, akik nem hobbiból csinálják, hanem ebből próbálnak megélni. Én grafikus vagyok, de a fotósoknak ez jól jöhet. Például: ha szabadúszó vagy és beküldöd a képeidet, lehetőséget biztosítunk egy oldalon, hogy bemutatkozz és elhelyezd a honlapodra vezető hivatkozást. A Wiki egy aloldalaként lehetne ezt megoldani. A szerzők felteszik oda a képeiket és egy rövid bemutatkozást írnak... kb. egy ilyen megoldással, mint amire a MATT tagoknak van lehetőségük: http://www.matt.org.hu/public/lista.php?m=117 - ez nagy segítség és motiváció is lenne azoknak, akik amiatt nem tudnak több időt fordítani ingyenes képek beküldésére, mert a saját boldogulásukkal töltik minden idejüket. Sőt, tovább megyek: akik ide felkerülnek, azokat valamlyen állami szervezet felkérhetné fotózásra saját céljaira, akár egy másik pályázat kapcsán. Egy olyan pályázat kapcsán, amire csak a wiki feltöltői küldhetnek be munkákat. Vagy: a wikiverseny első 3 helyezettjéé a megtiszteltetés, hogy az állam megbízza valamilyen fotók elkészítésével. Ez szakmai előrelépést jelent, nagyon jó referenciát, amiéárt érdemes megküzdeni.
Ez szerintem egy olyan lehetőség, amivel érdemes lenne élnie a wikinek: a legjobbakat és legelhivatottabakat vonzaná.

Szeretném továbbá javasolni, hogy grafikai témában is legyen valamilyen pályázat. Magyarországon ezernyi nagyon tehetséges grafikus van! A wikipédia elsősősorban fényképekkel illusztrálja a cikkeit, pedig infografikák, ábrák, vektoros elemek is jól jönnének. Egy magyar kezdeményezésű, ilyen témájú pályázatnak sok pozitív hatása lenne! |

| ru | Часто замечал, что в инете на разных ресурсах присутствуют тексты или фото одного автора содранные из первоисточника (возможно чуток изменённые или нет). Первоисточник и первоначальный настоящий автор фото и статей уже не известен. Этот первоисточник может быть и автор статьи в Википедии в том числе. Я много путешествую по миру, Ураине, пишу статьи на разные темы, публикуюсь во всеукраинских изданиях и внутренних ресурсах своей компании, участвую в фотовыставках. Поэтому свои фото и статьи я практически не размещаю нигде в инете, что б они не были содраны. Фотки, размещённые на конкурсе, я считаю очень удачными. Сделанны они были из места, где мне удалось побывать один раз случайно и туда нет доступа у большинства людей, что б повторить их. Некоторые из них побеждали на местных фотоконкурсах и я получал за них призы. Поэтому я бы никогда в жизни не прислал бы их на этот фотоконкурс, если бы не возможность выйграть приз. Я верю в свои фотки и надеюсь, что они меня приведут к выйграшу в очередной раз. Если этого не произойдёт, я уверен, что через некоторое время эти фотки будут уже где-угодно в инете без ссылки на автора, то бишь меня. Также я не прочь поделиться этой красотой со всем миром, но знаю, что таким способом их автор будет неизвестен...
В свете вышеизложенного я бы порекомендовал Вики защищать свои статьи и фотки на всех разделах и конкурсах хотя бы отсутствием возможности копирования в буфер фоток и текста. И больше предупреждать о защите авторских прав, если всё же кто-то будет воровать тексты и фото и выдавать их за свои. |

I know and I have photographed some buildings and sites, but of course nobody can se and photograph everything. I need a lot of pictures for my history lessons and wikimedia commons is a GREAT source of it and I am able to show my students how beautiful architecture could be and how important is to preserve it, feel not formaly, but realy how you are connected with your history.

Прозорий, себто щоб користувачі бачили, чи їх дані оброблено, який по ним результат. Це буде справді відчутна допомога проекту. Хоча з'явиться проблема які з поданих пам'яток мають бути у охоронних списках, а які ні. Але для місцевостей де списків немає, або вони потенційно неповні (під цю категорію поки що не підпадає лише Київ), це принесе очевидну користь. Я наприклад готовий з радістю допомогати пошуком данних про невраховані пам'ятки криворіжжя. Тепер всі мої знайомі переказують мені дані про бачені маловідомі пам'ятки, і список є чим розширювати. Проблемою являютсься пам'ятки архітектури, тому що звичайна людина не може оцінити, чи може цей старий прикрашений будинок бути пам'яткою, чи ні. Проте дані по меморіальним дошкам, скульптурам, історичним та військовим пам'яткам включаючи меморіали з технікою - надати може будь-яка людина.
Друге питання. Я вже зараз міг би зайнятись складенням додаткового списку знайдених пам'яток, хоча б і у форматі статті Вікіпедії "Пам'ятки криворіжжя", а вже потім оргкомітет "Вікі любить пам'ятки" зміг би користуватись, чи не користуватись зібраними даними, додавши їх або ні до основних списків, на розсуд оргкомітету. Та я не знаю, чи можу використати для цього такий зручний шаблон списку, що використовується для списків "Вікі любить пам'ятки". Я б не хотів, щоб зайві, не схвалені відмітки з'явилися на карті пам'яток, і вводили майбутніх учасників в оману. Та я не знаю, як побудовано той механізм списку, і як його треба скорегувати, щоб він працював у додатковому списку, але не заважав проекту. Я був би дуже вдячний, якби мені допомогли з цим питанням, якщо моя допомога у роботы над списками бажана. |
