Will Wikicommons replace local image repositories, or will it merely be an add-on? I read about the goals of Commons, and I think all media eglible for inclusion now in language wikipedia's should be included automatically. What would be the point of still having images in language wikipedia's? Gerrit 07:22, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Various Wikipedias differ in strictness regarding licensing. In particular, when and whether a claim on 'fair use' is allowed is rather different. WikiCommons is supposed to be rather strict on this point; people from Wikipedias where the rules are more strict can then upload those on their own place rather than WikiCommons. - Andre Engels 12:12, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I understand. But at some point in the future, it will become possible to include an image from the commons into a language wikipedia, but not an nl:-image into the en:-wikipedia. Then, should the GFDL and PD images be copied from language wikipedia's to the commons (by eglible I meant: those where it is allowed)? For example: de:Bild:Vorder_hinterrhein.jpg, nl:Afbeelding:Nederrijn.jpg, de:Bild:Rheinfall01.jpg and fr:Image:Chutes_du_rhin.jpg are all either GFDL or PD. Do those pictures belong at Rhine? Because then, any of those images can be linked from en:Rhine and it:Reno, as alternative for their current image, which may or may not be fair use and is not eglible for Commons. Should everything from en:Category:GFDL_images and the equivalents in other languages be (automatically) copied to Wikicommons at this moment, or should it be moved as soon as linking is possible, or not? Is User:Robbot already doing this? Gerrit 13:51, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hi! I would like to know about a image which has nothing to show. Kind of "spacer" images they use in so many sites. Is there one already uploaded to wikipedia? Or should I upload it?--Anupamsr 01:23, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind, found it. Aptly named spacer :)--Anupamsr 01:25, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
