I actually created this logo in 2017 for a specific taskforce related to the currency of the United States of America (USA). Ahhh, nevermind, I saw that you already know it and have integrated it into a number of (concept) pages.

Elaborate on the purpose of this contest?

The project page doesn't make clear the purpose of this contest, which makes it difficult to determine what is a worthwhile contribution. For example, the Federal Reserve Note categories already contain a number of representative images that predate this contest. What further contributions would be valuable there? —Gordon P. @GPHemsley: , well, several large categories such as "Free Banking" banknotes and many local and colonial banknotes are still not represented on Wikimedia Commons. Commons policy and images of US currency

As of this writing, Commons:Currency#United_States_of_America indicates that images of coins and images of banknotes are OK. However, there is a previous revision of Commons:Currency that indicates that images of US banknotes are not OK. In particular, the revision indicates that illustrations versus reproductions of US banknotes are treated differently, and includes a reference to 18 U.S.C. § 474. In addition, there is this previous revision. Clarifying the situation with images of US banknotes, anti-counterfeiting law, and the changes to Commons:Currency for the US would be useful. In particular, this revision includes the following:

Banknotes

Federal law appears to speak in two directions about the reproduction of banknotes: illustrations and reproductions. "Color illustrations" of banknotes appear to be permitted if they respect the following conditions (from 18 U.S. Code § 504):

• the illustration is of a size less than three-fourths or more than one and one-half, in linear dimension, of each part of the item illustrated;

• the illustration is one-sided; and
• all negatives, plates, positives, digitized storage medium, graphic files, magnetic medium, optical storage devices and any other thing used in the making of the illustration that contain an image of the illustration or any part thereof are destroyed and/or deleted or erased after their final use.

Printed reproductions, "including photographs of paper currency", are violations of 18 U.S.C. § 474. Even through its a non copyright restriction its not allowed on commons

How is this not spamming?

It's awfully extreme to assume that because I live in Ohio -- which for some reason appears to be the excuse for messaging me regarding this -- that I have an interest in adding to this topic. I have never posted nor, as far as I can recall, even just edited on the subject of paper currency at any level beyond correcting a typographical error. You should not have added me to any banknote contest list without my permission, and I should not have to remove myself from something I never subscribed to. I expect you to remove me and never bother me again. I consider this both rude and intrusive. Trdsf (talk) 23:50, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Confused

Half the categories you are requesting notes image for I have already provided complete type sets based on volunteer work at the National Numismatic Collection. Isn't that a bit of a duplicate effort? Just curious...Godot13 (talk) 20:01, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
