Description
日本語: 豚祭。豚祭といふのは豚を祭るのではない。寺廟の祭日なとに何十頭となく澤山の豚を犧牲として佛に供へるのである。其の豚は唯で外皮を割ぎ內臟を取り出してあるのみで，全身の儘であるから，始めて之を見た內地人には一種異樣な感を起としめるが，殆ど臺灣全島に行はれる風俗である。此の豚祭は一面豚の品評會とも云ふべき意味が含まれこゐて，犧牲とされた澤山の豚の中最も優秀と認められた豚の奉納者は賞豚祭を受けることになつてゐる。この寫真は新竹州大溪郡大溪街に在る城隍廟に於て催された豚祭の光景である。（神田喜一郎，臺北帝國大學文政學部助教授）
