"Resistir para cuidar a mãe natureza" - Nasce a Retomada Multiétnica Kaingang Xokleng Popular Gãh Ré, no Morro Santana, em Porto Alegre-RS

Na noite de terça-feira, 18 de outubro de 2022, dezenas de indígenas dos povos Kaingang e Xokleng, junto a apoiadores, fizeram uma ação de retomada em uma área ameaçada pela especulação imobiliária.

Há décadas, as comunidades Kaingang do Morro Santana, através da Kujà (líder espiritual) Gah Té, vêm denunciando as constantes ameaças de destruição de seu território sagrado, na forma de novos condomínios, velhas pedreiras, incêndios e ampliação de avenidas. Para os Kaingang, o Morro Santana é sagrado por conta de seus antepassados que foram enterrados ali há gerações, das casas subterrâneas que foram construídas nesse território e dos umbigos de seus filhos e netos que também estão enterrados naquele solo. As araucárias, espécie sagrada para a cultura Kaingang, foram derrubadas e, em seu lugar, foram introduzidas espécies exóticas, como pinus e eucalipto.
