Summary
editDescription"Sanctuary" - geograph.org.uk - 1363331.jpg |
English: "Sanctuary" – This striking sculpture was commissioned under the Roadends project, the idea of which was to get people to visit parts of the Western Isles which they would otherwise not frequent. Roddy Mathieson's sculpture cleverly combines the shape of boats with those of swans in flight, both of which elements are very relevant to the location. In 2007 the sculpture had to be moved due to building work (cf 32501)- it seems the artist is even happier with the current position than with the original one. |
