Summary edit

Description
English: "Arthur" at Goonhilly Down, 1962. At that time the only dish at what became the BT Earth Station at Goonhilly, the largest communications satellite station on earth, with 60 dishes. Satellite operations ceased in 2008, and "Arthur" is now a Grade II listed structure. This photo was taken within a few days of the launch of Telstar 1 on 10 July 1962, which relayed the first TV, telephone and fax communications through space, and provided the first live transatlantic TV feed.
