Riksantikvar Hanne Geiran var vertskap.
Kronprins Haakon sto for den offisielle åpningen.
Klima- og miljøminister Ola Elvestuen "ferdigstilte" utstillingen med å legge på plass en stein fra alteret som hans forgjenger Vidar Helgesen hadde fått til forvaring.

Trondheims ordfører Rita Ottervik, fylkesmann Frank Jenssen, politimester Nils Kristian Moe, NTNUs prorektor for utdanning Anne Borg var blant gjestene. Det var også museumsdirektør Reidar Andersen fra NTNU Vitenskapsmuseet, som skal drifte og formidle i utstillingen.
