Ελληνικά: Το κτήριο στο οποίο στεγάζεται το Μουσείο, είχε χτιστεί αρχικά ως διδακτήριο - ήταν το πρώτο του νησιού. Στα χρόνια του εκτοπισμού πολιτικών εξορίστων στον 'Αη-Στράτη χρησιμοποιήθηκε ως αναρρωτήριο. Ο σεισμός του 1968 προκάλεσε σοβαρότατες ζημιές στο κτήριο με αποτέλεσμα την εγκατάλειψή του. Το 2005 άρχισαν οι εργασίες για την αναστήλωσή του από την Υπηρεσία Νεωτέρων Μνημείων και Τεχνικών ΄Εργων Β. Αιγαίου του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού, οι οποίες ολοκληρώθηκαν τον Νοέμβριο του 2007.
Τη συγκέντρωση των εκθεμάτων και την οργάνωση του Μουσείου ανέλαβε η Διεύθυνση Νεώτερης Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού.
Deutsch: Das Gebäude, in dem das Museum untergebracht ist, wurde ursprünglich als Schlafsaal gebaut - es war das erste auf der Insel. Während der Jahre der Deportation politischer Exilanten nach Ai-Strati wurde es als Krankenhaus genutzt. Das Erdbeben von 1968 verursachte schwere Schäden am Gebäude und führte zu dessen Aufgabe. Im Jahr 2005 begannen die Arbeiten zur Restaurierung durch den Dienst für moderne Denkmäler und technische Arbeiten der Nordägäis des Kulturministeriums, die im November 2007 abgeschlossen wurden.
Die Ausstellung der Exponate und die Organisation des Museums wurden von der Direktion für modernes Kulturerbe des Kulturministeriums durchgeführt.
