Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solomiya Krushelnytska

Summary edit

Description
English: Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solomiya Krushelnytska is not only a theater, it is one of the most beautiful and outstanding buildings not only in Lviv, but also in Europe. The theater building, built in 1900, combines neo-Renaissance and neo-baroque styles, as well as modern elements. It impresses with a large number of stucco, decoration and sculptures. The top of the theater is decorated with two bronze figures-symbols: on the left - "Comedy and Drama", on the right - "Music", and between them stands the statue of "Glory". Even more striking is the rich interior of the theater - gilding, massive chandeliers, luxurious murals, paintings, stucco, carvings and sculptures. Particular attention is drawn to the mirror hall with huge mirrors that optically enlarge the small room. But the main thing is still the auditorium in the form of a lyre, which is designed for a thousand spectators. The hall was decorated by 10 artists under the direction of S. Reyhan. One of the main decorations of both the hall and the whole theater can undoubtedly be called the Parnassus curtain, a painting painted by the Polish artist G. Semiradsky. It belongs to the most unique works of art located in Lviv. No less spectacular is the chandelier with 10 sectors depicting Grace, Music, Dance, Criticism, Drama, Inspiration, Orgy, Chastity, Illusion and Truth, which harmoniously completed the image.
