Description
English: Memorial plaque in Rohatyn in western Ukraine, honouring the 24 patriots fighting for the independence of Ukraine who were shot in Rohatyn on December 13, 1943 by German nazists during World War II.
  • On December 13, 1943 soldiers of Nazi Germany capture 24 local Ukrainian nationalists originally from near Berezhany and Ternopil; the resident German authority orders their public execution by firing squad against a wall of the Ukrainian church near the town square. Following the execution, the bodies are gathered and buried in a common grave.
