English: Daphnia is a genus of small neo-oceanic planktonic crustaceans in the Cladocera family, ranging in size from 0.2 to 6.0 mm. Members of this genus are among the smallest aquatic crustaceans. Due to the movement of fleas, Daphnia is also called water fleas. They live in a variety of aquatic environments from acidic swamps to freshwater lakes, ponds and rivers.
