Летом 1706 года на этом месте на ночь остановился русский полк. Утром была отслужена божественная литургия. Русские воины приобщились Христовых тайн. После молебена Божией Матери полк пошел в юго-западном направлении, перейдя реку ласькие, в дубраве полк попал в засаду. Несмотря на неожиданное нападение шведов, русские воины проявили мужество и дрались с врагом, не жалея жизни своей. Защитники веры православной, погибшие на поле брани, были погребены здесь на возвышенности. Вечная память русским воинам.
