Description
العربية: مسجد محمد علي هو مسجد مبني على الطراز العثماني، على غرار مسجد أياصوفيا بإسطنبول، بناه محمد علي باشا بداخل قلعة صلاح الدين بالعاصمة المصرية؛ القاهرة، ما بين الفترة من 1830 إلى 1848. الصحن تتوسطه فسقية الوضوء ويصلها الماء عن طريق بئر مجاورة لها بعمق 20 متر وكان الماء يتم رفعه عن طريق الشادوف من البئر ثم يوضع في فسقية الوضوء. وبمؤخرة الصحن الخارجى أعلى منتصف الرواق الغربي برج من النحاس المزخرف بداخله ساعة دقاقة وهى الساعة التي أهداها إلى محمد على لويس فيليب ملك فرنسا سنة 1845م وقد قام محمد على في المقابل باهداءه المسلة الفرعونية الموجودة حاليا في ميدان الكونكورد بباريس ويقال أن الساعة أصيبت بعطل في نفس سنة وصولها ولم تعمل إلى وقتنا هذا!!. وللمسجد منارتان رشيقتان بارتفاع 84 مترا عن مستوى أرضية الصحن.
