محوطه تاریخی طاق بستان در دامنه کوه بستان و در کنار چشمه ای در نزدیکی شهر کرمانشاه قرار دارد . آثاری که در این محوطه وجود دارد مربوط به دوره ساسانی و شامل دو ایوان سنگی به نامهای : «ایوان بزرگ » که شامل صحنه تاج گذاری پادشاه ساسانی و نقشی از خسروپرویز سوار بر اسب خود شبدیز می باشد. « ایوان کوچک » پیکره های شاهپور دوم و شاهپور سوم را همراه با کتیبه هایی به خط پهلوی مربوط به هر یک را نشان می دهد .« سنگ نگاره اردشیر دوم» در کنار ایوان کوچک تاج گذاری اردشیر دوم نهمین پادشاه ساسانی را در سال (۳۸۳ _۳۷۹ ) نشان می دهد . زمان ساخت این سنگ نگاره ها را اواخر سده سوم و آغاز سده دوم پیش از میلاد تخمین زده اند . این مجموعه در سال ۱۳۱۰ ه.ش به عنوان آثار ملی ایران به ثبت رسیده است .
