According to researches ,Leaves have Triterpenes , Flavonol Glycosides etc.,Leaves are consumed as a potherb; Dried leaves are source of Protein; Leaves are used to treat Ulcers, Abdominal swelling, and Headache and Chest pain; Roots and leaves are useful for Snakebites and Wounds; This plant is a source of fibre for making bags ; Stems are used for tying bundles . வலிக்கும் இக் கீரையை உண்ணலாம்; பாம்புகடி மருந்தாக வேரும்

இலையும் பயன்படுகிறது; பிண்ணாக்குக் கீரையில் புரதச் சத்து உள்ளது; தண்டுப் பகுதிகளைக் கட்டும் கயிறாகப் பயன்படுத்துவர் ;நோய் நீக்கும் சில இரசாயனப் பொருள்களை இத் தாவரம் கொண்டுள்ளது.
