江南三角洲の一帶は何れも水に包まれ、人々は終日水に生活してゐる。蕪湖も又その運命を擔ふて生れた都だ。人々の生活は水に明け水に暮れる。城內縱橫の水路がそれだ。城外無數の湖水がそれだ。｜だが濁つた楊子江の水に象徵されるこの町の生活も、南洋風な水上の荼店などを發見することによつて、一抹の明るさを點ずる。｜（一九二九年、撮影）（印畫の複製を禁ず）
