大同華嚴寺の佛像 （山西省）

これは大同華嚴寺に藏されてゐる觀音像である。豊妖艶麗、活けるが如きこの觀音像に接する時、如何なる名匠の作なるやと驚嘆せざるを得ないのである。古都として華やかなりし千數百年前の大同府に、旣に斯る巧妙なる美術が出現し、以来當代に至るまで、これに匹敵する巨作のないことを見ると、その時代の文化の發達振りと、宗敎の力の偉大さを偲ぶだけである。（印畫の複製を禁ず）
