Description
中文（臺灣）：從照片中可看見一位盛裝打扮的太魯閣族婦女，後方為太魯閣峽口（今日太魯閣中西橫貫公路牌坊前），一旁矗立著國立公園候補地大太魯閣的石碑，大約可推估此圖年代為1930年代。1932年（昭和7年）3月花蓮港廳成立「東臺灣勝地宣傳協會」，日本國立公園委員前來太魯閣進行國立公園候補地考察，而後於1935至1937年（昭和10年至昭和12年）被列為國立公園候補地，此照片拍攝時間應該就在這3年之間。另外，該位太魯閣族婦女臉上亦可看見清晰的「紋面」形式，在太魯閣族的文化中，必須擅長織布與耕種的女子才有資格在額頭與臉頰上紋面，象徵美麗、避邪、勇敢，更重要的是有了這樣的印記，在死後過彩虹橋時，橋另一端的祖靈們才會認得你是同一個族群的子孫。此影像收錄於《顧我洄瀾：花蓮歷史影像集》一書，為葉柏強先生撰寫、花蓮縣文化局於2016年（民國105年）出版。書中記錄了花蓮近百年的城市樣貌，是一本擁有豐富文史與圖像資料的書籍。
