中文（臺灣）：巴托蘭社為賽德克族德魯固群東遷的一支，曾在太魯閣戰役和日人有過激烈抗爭，居於木瓜溪上游。1914年（大正3年）5月所爆發的太魯閣戰爭，當時日本總督佐久間左馬太帶領軍警從東西南北四個方位夾擊太魯閣族，由於不論是軍隊人數或是武器，日方都有絕對性優勢的狀況下，同年8月戰事大致底定，日人也旋即在部落內部設立駐在所與開鑿聯絡道路，來進行對原住民的教化與監視。巴托蘭社總頭目為卡拉瓦旦（Kala Watan），曾在太魯閣戰役領導巴托蘭社對抗日人。照片右邊男子即是在一次襲擊草村分隊行動中左咽喉及背部中彈、左手骨折負傷的卡拉瓦旦。此影像收錄於《顧我洄瀾：花蓮歷史影像集》一書，為葉柏強先生撰寫、花蓮縣文化局於2016年（民國105年）出版。書中記錄了花蓮近百年的城市樣貌，是一本擁有豐富文史與圖像資料的書籍。 |
