中文：這批相片為台灣新生報記者於1990年03月19日拍攝，主題為三月學運。學生在臺北市中正紀念堂廣場聚集，他們靜坐、搭帳篷及舉布條提出國會全面改選等訴求。

1988年1月總統蔣經國逝世，由副總統李登輝繼任總統。1990年總統任期將屆滿，國民黨內非主流派對李登輝有所疑慮，他們打算於2月11日國民黨中央委員會全體會議中改以投票通過總統提名人選，但最後由李登輝主導的起立通過獲勝。

此時國民大會仍是從未改選的第一屆國會，部分國大代表打算推出另一組候選人林洋港與蔣緯國競選總統，他們還提出每年召開國民大會、大幅提高出席費等自肥方案。這些行為引起輿論反彈，進而釀成學生運動。3月14日學生於國民黨中央黨部前抗議，16日群眾在中正紀念堂廣場靜坐，18日提出終止《動員戡亂時期臨時條款》、解散國民大會、召開國是會議、提出政治改革時間表等四大訴求。

3月21日國民大會選舉李登輝為第八任總統後，他召見學生代表承諾舉行國是會議，學生決定終止抗爭。李登輝在二月政爭與三月學運中能夠溝通國民黨內的菁英與體制外的民主化勢力，此後成為臺灣政局的平衡者。
