Description
中文（繁體）：旗山天后宮是旗山街區最重要的廟宇。嘉慶10年(1805)間由臺灣縣知縣薛志亮、內門歲貢生游化(1752〜1826)等率先捐款籌建，歷經12年募款，在地方官紳與商家的共同襄贊之下，於嘉慶22年(1817)左右動工興建，道光4年(1824)落成，爾後成為旗山街區住民的共同信仰。 殿內，處處佈滿了歷史文物，如石碑、如匾額……等。這些精緻的建築藝術以及豐富的歷史文物，充分象徵天后宮在旗山區內的崇高地位。因此，民國89年(2000)5月31日被原高雄縣政府指定為縣定古蹟，民國97年(2008)進行修復工程，民國100(2011)完成修復。
