Description
中文（繁體）：埔里社製糖所創建於1907年(明治40年)，日人將原民間的舊糖廍改建為新式糖廠，合併為埔里社製糖合資會社。1916年(大正5年)，因埔里盆地遭洪水侵襲，損失慘重，遂併入台灣製糖株式會社成為台灣製糖會社，改名為「埔里社製糖所」。甘蔗農業的興盛，不但改變了埔里盆地缺水地帶及丘陵地的耕作形態，也因為土地的利用、買賣，及民間企業的整合，帶來大量人口的移入，對埔里盆地的傳統經濟結構、社會形態、交通等產生巨大的影響。
