English: In the topsoil of a tilled field I found stone axes. I had not expected to come across stone-age artifacts in the nothern aborigine territory. By the look of things, more remains will be revealed upon further exploration……At nine o'clock on the morning of May 8, we set out in the rain, headed for Malapan Village. We descended toward a stream, crossing over it on a vine bridge, proceeding toward a spot halfway up Malapan Mountain……Looking up, I saw a bamboo pole standing upright on a large tree in the vicinity of Malapan Village……Whenever the villagers go headhunting and return with an enemy head, they erect a flagpole to proclaim their success. In Malapan Village, they have erected a skull-shelf……now a light breeze is rustling the reeds, making a plaintive sound, sad and mournful. Raindrops drip from the leaves of the trees like streaming tears, falling on bleached-out skulls and newly severd heads, splashing like countless tears.
