中文（臺灣）：據查「石空」原是位於梗枋溪上游谷中的小村落，居民為早期由雙溪鄉烏山地區移入開墾，後因山壁遭河流侵蝕、狀如山洞因而得名，根據《噶瑪蘭廳志》的記載，當時自艋舺至宜蘭城之間的官道須繞經台灣東北角，約二百里之遠，商旅咸感不便，於是民間另走出一條捷徑，從頭城外澳附近，取向西北，斜過石空仔山，再經由平溪出汐止，使距離縮短為一百二十五里，「石空」即位於這條淡蘭古道的路線上，為淡蘭古道支線之一。另《噶瑪蘭廳輿圖纂要》也提及，道光年間，駐蘭營的千總黃廷泰曾率員入墾雙溪，即是經由石空古道進入雙溪鄉。隨著時代的演變，山區生活日漸不便，石空聚落的居民也紛紛遷徙下山謀生，目前只見一小部分遺址。古道原先路面狹窄，後來經政府拓寬，從接天宮牌樓旁的產業道路往上沿著山路直走即到，沿路自然生態豐富，還能鳥瞰龜山島及烏石港，現已成為富有教育意義、適合登山健行的生態古蹟古道。 |
